All Saints back on stage |
Two years ago, when "Titanic"
When the Spice Girls are rumoured to be making a comeback the teenage boy in me starts fantasising about a tour and possible new music.
When Lady Gaga wears her Baby Spice shoes I think "HA! The 90s and their impact!".
And now, UK girlgroup All Saints are on tour with the Backstreet Boys. How about THAT?!
All Saints attacked the UK charts in late 1997, although they formed in 1993, but didn't hit the big time until they recorded a demo of "I Know Where It's At", which made its way to London Records. A deal was signed, and the girls recorded their debut album, "All Saints"
The real success arrived in the shape of a million-selling #1 single called "Never Ever", two BRIT Awards and more #1 hits: the double A-side release "Under The Bridge/Lady Marmalade" and "Bootie Call".
In 2000 they released "Pure Shores", another massive hit for them and the soundtrack to Leonardo Di Caprio's "Beach".
Despite the constant comparisons to the Spice Girls, All Saints were a very different group.
They broke up after their second album, "Saints & Sinners"
A reunion was inevitable, and in 2006 they released "Studio 1"
But now they're back! Rumour has it the tour with the Backstreet Boys is just the beginning of a new adventure for All Saints, but for now, their fans are just happy to have them back.
