20 Forgotten '90s Gems

Old school

When it comes to music, the '90s were a fantastic decade, but so many of the songs that were released during those years have been totally forgotten. The only songs from the '90s you seem to hear on the radio, here in Spain, are Natalie Imbruglia's 'Torn' and Eagle-Eye Cherry's 'Save Tonight'. It almost feels as if they had come out last year.
 
On our iTunes, we probably have a thousand songs from the 90s, which made it incredibly hard to choose just 20, but we tried our best to go for songs that could have been seriously erased from your memory.

Morcheeba - Blindfold (1998)

Morcheeba had a handful of hits, their most notorious being 'Rome Wasn't Built In A Day', which, quite frankly, annoys us. This one, instead, was their most beautiful moment, in our opinion. Both the song and video deserved a lot of success.

Era - Ameno (1997)

Era is a French music project, still active to this day, and this particular song is sung in Pseudo-Latin. It sounds like Latin, but it doesn't actually have any meaning.

Snkeaker Pimps - 6 Underground (1996)

This song was initially a club hit in the UK, until it was used in various movies, including 'Cruel Intentions', which made it much more popular.

Vacuum - I Breathe (1996)

Many of these acts are complete one hit wonders to us, but this Swedish pop band is actually still active! 'I Breathe' was their only international hit single.

Air - All I Need (1998)

The couple that appears in the video was a real couple at the time, but they have since broken up. This song was used by MTV Italy for one of its shows, many of you will recognise it.

The Rhapsody - Prince Igor (1997)

This track features rapper and producer Warren G and Norwegian soprano Sissel.

Hole - Doll Parts (1994)

While everyone knows who Courtney Love is, not many people seem to be familiar with her band's music. This, however, was a hit for Hole, and it was written by Courtney soon after she met Kurt Cobain.

Bell, Book & Candle - Rescue Me (1998)

German band that released music up until 2005, despite 'Rescue Me' being their only real international hit.

Hevia - Busindre Reel (1998)

Yet another big success that proves just how varied the '90s were, musically speaking. 

Meredith Brooks - What Would Happen (1998)

You will remember Meredith's other song, 'Bitch', which was a huge success for her. Well, this was the not-so-popular follow up.

The Connells - '74 '75 (1993)

This was the only hit song The Connells ever achieved despite having released 8 albums. It was particularly big in Europe, where it won many awards. 

Sheryl Crow - Anything But Down (1999)

Sheryl is known Worldwide, but this is one of those singles that didn't achieve much success despite being a great song.

All Saints - War Of Nerves (1998)

Despite the constant comparisons with the Spice Girls, All Saints were a complete different kind of girl group. Most of their singles were massive hits, but this one, the last single from their first and most successful album, didn't quite become the hit it deserved to be.

Bamboo - Bamboogie (1998)

This song was a big hit and MTV used to play the video all the time back then, it features cartoons from the '30s and the '50s.

Anggun - Snow On The Sahara (1998)

This is Anggun's biggest hit. It was #1 in several countries and it was absolutely everywhere. It's one of those songs most people seemed to really appreciate back then.

Ké - Strange World (1995)

You all must remember this one! Released by American artist Ké, it was a big hit in Europe and ended up selling more than 3 million copies Worldwide.
 
Semisonic - Closing Time (1998)

Typical American pop/rock song that was a massive success in the US but didn't do as well in the rest of the World. It has been included in many TV shows over the years including 'The Office' and 'How I Met Your Mother'.

Smoke City - Mr. Gorgeous (and Miss Curvaceous) (1997)

The second single from English band Smoke City was almost as good as their first ('Underwater Love') but not half as successful. What makes is so good? Its refreshing bossa nova vibe.

Ultra Nate - Found A Cure (1998)

Released on the back of the success of her biggest single, 'Free', 'Found A Cure' was a (now forgotten) hit that reached #6 in the UK and #1 on the Dance Charts in the US.

Dario G - Sunchyme (1997)

Who doesn't remember and love the video to this one? Typical uplifting dance song from the 90s that will instantly make you wish you could relive those years.

20 Canzoni Dimenticate Degli Anni 90

Musicalmente parlando, gli anni 90 furono fantastici, ma moltissime canzoni pubblicate durante quella decade sembrano essere state del tutto dimenticate. Qui in Spagna, le uniche canzoni anni 90 che si sentono in radio sono 'Torn' di Natalie Imbruglia e 'Save Tonight' di Eagle-Eye Cherry. E' come se fossero uscite l'anno scorso.

Su iTunes, abbiamo circa mille canzoni risalenti a quegli anni. E' quindi stato difficilissimo sceglierne soltanto 20, ma abbiamo cercato di isolare quelle che davvero avreste potuto eliminare dalla vostra memoria.

I Morcheeba ebbero vari successi, il più noto sicuramente 'Rome Wasn't Built In A Day', che, francamente, noi troviamo irritante. Questo invece fu il loro momento più bello, e sia il video che la canzone meritavano molto di più.

Era è un progetto musicale Francese, ancora attivo, e questa canzone in particolare è cantata in pseudo-latino. Sembra latino, ma in realtà non ha alcun senso.

Questo pezzo fu un grande successo, e MTV passava il video in continuazione all'epoca. Contiene clip di vari cartoni animati degli anni 30 e 50.

Anggun - Snow On The Sahara (1998)

Il cavallo di battaglia di Anggun. #1 in moltissimi paesi e un vero e proprio tormentone. Una di quelle canzoni che piacevano più o meno a tutti.

Ké - Strange World (1995)

Questa dovete ricordarvela! Pubblicata dall'Americano Ké, 'Strange World' ebbe un successo enorme e riuscì a vendere più di 3 milioni di copie in tutto il mondo.

Tipica canzone Americana dal sapore un po' pop e un po' rock. Hit gigantesca in America ma non popolarissima in Europa, è stata usata in molti TV show negli anni, tra cui 'The Office' e 'How I Met Your Mother'.

Smoke City - Mr. Gorgeous (and Miss Curvaceous) (1997)

Il secondo singolo di questo gruppo inglese fu bello quasi quanto il primo ('Underwater Love'), ma non ebbe lo stesso successo. Cosa lo rende cosi bello? Quella fresca vena bossa nova.

Ultra Nate - Found A Cure (1998)

Pubblicata dopo il suo più grande successo, 'Free', 'Found A Cure' fu una hit che arrivò alla posizione numero 6 in Inghilterra e alla numero 1 delle dance charts Americane.

Dario G - Sunchyme (1997)

Chi non ricorda e ama questo video? Tipica canzone dance leggera anni 90 che ti farà venire voglia di poter rivivere quegli anni.

20 Canciones Olvidadas De Los Años 90 

Cuando se trata de música, los años 90 fueron una década fantástica, pero muchas de las canciones que salieron en aquellos años han sido completamente olvidadas. Las únicas canciones de los 90 que parecen escucharse todavía en las radios españolas son "Torn" de Natalie Imbruglia" y "Save Tonight" de Eagle-Eye Cherry. Es casi como si hubiesen salido el año pasado.

En nuestro iTunes, es muy posible que tengamos miles de canciones de los 90, lo que ha hecho que escoger sólo 20 sea bastante difícil, pero hemos intentando elegir canciones que probablemente hayas borrado de tu mente por completo.

Morcheeba - Blindfold (1998)

Morcheeba tuvieron algunos hits. El más conocido fue 'Rome Wasn't Built In A Day', el cual, para ser sinceros, nos irrita. Este, por el contrario, fue uno de sus temas más bonitos en nuestra opinión. Tanto la canción como el vídeo se merecían tener éxito.

Era - Ameno (1997)

Era es un proyecto musical francés, todavía activo, y esta canción está cantada en pseudo latín. Suena como si fuese latín, pero en realidad no tiene ningún significado.

Snkeaker Pimps - 6 Underground (1996)

Este tema comenzó siendo simplemente un éxito en las discotecas del Reino Unido hasta que empezaron a utilizarlo en películas como 'Crueles Intenciones', lo que provocó que se hiciese más popular.

Muchos de estos artistas son simples one hit wonders (aquellos que consiguen un sólo éxito) para nosotros, ¡pero esta banda de pop sueca sigue en activo! 'I Breathe' fue su único éxito internacional.
