Jssie J comes clean |
Jessie J burst onto the music scene in 2011 with her debut single "Do It Like A Dude", and during an interview at the time she declared that she had dated boys and girls and considered herself to be bisexual.
Fast-forward to 2014 and she can't be bothered to talk about her sexuality anymore and that is why she gave an interview to UK tabloid newspaper The Mirror, during which she talked about... her sexuality:
"For me, it was a phase. But I'm not saying bisexuality is a phase for everybody.
I just want to be honest, and it's really not a big deal. Who cares?
I did talk about it, and I was open about it. And I do support being gay/bisexual/lesbian/transgender - love who you want. That's what I'm doing. I don't regret anything I ever said, but I never knew back then that whatever I said became a fact that I couldn't change.
I'm just so bored of it, and that's kind of it – I want to stop talking about it completely now and find myself a husband."
Well, that surely set the record straight.
But she didn't stop at that interview. Today, on Twitter, she wrote an essay that also contained news on her new album, which she is currently recording.
But what caught my attention was this:
Not a young woman who still thinks people choose their sexual orientation, please. The message is good and she has the right to come forward and say the truth, but it could have been delivered with better words.
An unofficial autobiography accused Jessie J of lying about her sexuality in fear of losing her contract with Universal. The author insists she is in fact 100 per cent gay but she was advised to keep it to herself and come out as bisexual instead because "it was trendy, exotic and a fashion statement, and it would help album sales."
Jessie has dismissed the accusations as "silly and lazy".
