I'm far from being a TV junkie, I own a TV but it's hardly ever on, and when it's on it's on some music channel. But there are certain TV shows I started watching years ago and ended up obsessing over, and they have definitely stood the test of time.
If I had to compile a Top5, it would be something like this:
1) Will & Grace.
Friendship. This TV show teaches you what friendship should really be like. When it aired, I could identify with the main character, Will, a young gay lawyer, as I too had a best girl friend and a lot of the funny things that happened in the show seemed to happen to us as well. This TV series is absolutely hilarious, Karen Walker's character is genius, and I have never seen a more natural, genuinely fun cast.

2) American Horror Story
This TV show started airing in 2011 and I once caught it at my brother's and thought: "What the hell is this?". All I saw was a (very sexy) man provocatively eating a banana and a (very sexy) maid who suddenly became very old. I was confused and gave up on it. One year later some friends told me to give it a go... I did, and I have never looked back. The show is perfect. The locations, the characters and their personalities, the historical references, the themes. I watched the first episode and immediately felt like watching three more.

3) Ugly Betty
2006, the explosion of celebrity culture. The obsession with the likes of Paris Hilton, Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohan was out of control at the time. And "Ugly Betty", which was based on a Colombian telenovela, premiered and its dialogues had plenty of pop culture references, which made it very relevant at the time. A joke about Anna-Nicole Smith had me in tears. Betty isn't what you'd call a "conventional beauty" but she makes up for it in talent, drive and charisma. She goes through a million adventures and endures plenty of humiliations, but she always (well, almost) gets what she wants.

4) Dawson's Creek
Aaah, "Dawson's Creek". 1998, the year I started high school. It was also the year Ginger Spice left the Spice Girls and broke my teenage heart. "Dawson's Creek" tells the story of Dawson and Joey, two friends who become lovers who become friends who become lovers who fight a lot but then sleep together when they're not even lovers anymore. Joey is a petulant, boring, paranoid girl who seems to have absolutely no fun in her. Dawson is the boy next door, he's gentle and charming, but incredibly childish at times. Pacey and Jen are their best friends and they're the polar opposites of Dawson and Joey. The dialogues are hilariously OTT and you often find yourself thinking: "I didn't talk like that when I was a teenager".

5) Absolutely Fabulous
British humour. Witty, quick, and very, very strange. Eddy and Patsy are two women in their mid 40s (???) who obsess over fashion, champagne and all the most futile things in life. Eddy's daughter, Saffy, a complete nerd, obviously hates her mother and her best friend. Patsy, a cocaine addict and a man eater who constantly lies about her age, is the one who owns the funniest lines in virtually every episode. So many celebrities appeared on the show, including Helena Bonham Carter, Naomi Campbell, Emma Bunton, Minnie Driver, Elton John and Whoopi Goldberg.
