The Spice Girls Know How To Party

"Girls night out", an excited Melanie C tweeted

Victoria Beckham recently turned 40 (story), and she celebrated in style in Los Angeles, but her London friends threw a surprise party for her when she got back home.

The guest-list included people like Chris Martin, Guy Ritchie and Gordon Ramsay and obviously husband David Beckham, but two people stole the show: Baby Spice Emma Bunton and Sporty Spice Melanie C.

David and Victoria Beckham leaving the Arts Club

The mini Spice Girls reunion (Ginger Spice Geri Halliwell also attended) must have got the Girls really excited and in the mood for partying, because pictures of the them leaving London's Arts Club are so much fun, and they have made the headlines all around the World.

Friendship never ends, and the girls know how to have fun

Both Emma and Melanie stumbled on their way to the car when they left the party at 2AM, but still managed to look gorgeous. Jade Jones, Emma Bunton's partner was the perfect gentleman as he made sure Melanie (who, according to Emma, was the worst of the night) got to the car, then went back and did exactly the same with his lady. Watch the video below:

Victoria Beckham seemed delighted to have her Spice pals with her, she later tweeted:

"So much fun with Emma and Mel C at my party last night x vb"

She forgot to mention Geri Halliwell, who apparently was the sensible one, didn't drink a drop and drove herself home once the party was over.

Scary Spice Mel B was missing, probably only because she was busy working on America's Got Talent.

Despite the party finishing at 2AM, Emma Bunton was on London's Heart Breakfast around four hours later and talked about the party. Well, what she rememberd of the party! Listen below:

More Backstreet Spice Rumours. And Nick Gets Married!

The Spice Girls and the Backstreet Boys back in their heyday

Rumours of a joint Spice Girls/Backstreet Boys tour have been doing the rounds for months now.

They were started by the boys themselves during an interview for Spanish TV (story) only to be denied by Baby Spice Emma Bunton during her morning radio show. Sporty Spice Melanie C was more vague, tweeting:

"Wouldn't it be amazing? Love BSB"

But then AJ and Brian Littrell denied that the tour was going to happen (story), with Brian going as far as saying:

"So I think the GIRLS are afraid of the BOYS. That's why they won't take to the stage. #SPICEGIRLS #BSB #BOYSvsGIRLS Just sayin"

Well, now the Backstreet Boys are talking about it again.

The Backstreet Boys are hopeful about a tour with the Spice Girls

AJ and Brian attended the MTV Movie Awards and spoke about the possibility of a joint tour with the Spice Girls.

According to US Weekly they are in the dark about the tour's likelihood. When asked if it will happen, they both said:

"I don't know", with Littrell adding:

"I think it would be fun! Battle of the sexes! If you want to be my - Hey, Backstreet's back!"

AJ McLean added:

"Hopefully! We'll have our fingers crossed. We'll see"

Is this all a way to generate interest and get the press to talk about it before the big announcement or are the Backstreet Boys using the rumours to make more people aware of their own tour, which has recently touched the UK, where they were supported by All Saints (story)?

Meanwhile, Nick Carter tied the knot with fiancé Lauren Kitt on Saturday. The pair had been engaged for a little over one year.

The ceremony took place in Santa Barbara, California, but Nick's brother, Aaron, didn't attend. Apparently he had contractual obligations to appear in the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, D.C..

Victoria Beckham Snubs Her Former Bandmates Again?

Posh and her invisible phone

Victoria Beckham is turning 40 in just three days, and while a few years ago she was all about seeking attention, she now prefers to sneak out of back doors and attend private parties.

Instead of an extravagant OTT bash, the former Spice Girl has apparently opted for an intimate dinner with family and friends. The other Spice Girls will be there, surely? Hmm, Victoria doesn't think so.

According to The Mirror, the popstar-turned-designer, who was rumoured to be throwing two massive parties, one in Los Angeles and one in London, has opted for a quieter affair with just a few of her closest friends and her immediate family.

Mel B, Emma, Geri and Melanie C, her former Spice Girls bandmates, probably won't be invited.

Mel B and Victoria have had their ups and downs over the years and the pair couldn't seem any more distant, while Posh hasn't seen much of Geri since the group took the Olympics by storm.

Emma is the one Spice Girl Victoria has felt close to in recent years, and she made it very clear when she intentionally only included her in a tweet and a photograph right after the Spice Girls musical launch in June, 2012.

"Loved seeing @emmabunton and all the Spice Girls this week! X VB ‪#VivaForever"

Melanie C recently spoke of David Beckham's wife's birthday and joked that she would have a drink-off with Mel B at the party. Victoria didn't really like the joke, if this story is to be believed.

Well, it looks like the Melanies will have to have fun elsewhere, because while Gordon Ramsay and his wife Tara, Eva Longoria and Simon Fuller are all attending, the Spice Girls are not.

"Girl Power", "Friendship Never Ends" and all that...

Judy Craymer Looks Back On Spice Girls Musical

During a recent interview with the Daily Express, Judy Craymer (the woman behind Mamma Mia!) was asked about Viva Forever!: the musical created around the music of the Spice Girls that, sadly, didn't outlast its initial six-month run.

The Spice Girls and Judy Craymer at the Viva Forever! premiere in London
The musical saw the involvement of the five original Spice Girls. It was promoted with a hugely hyped London premiere that introduced us to a new, Posh-less version of the Spice Girls, and a TV documentary featuring interviews with all the Girls.

But the critics killed the project before it even had a chance to get off the ground.

Now, almost two years after its debut, Judy Craymer looks back on the project.

Why does she think the musical wasn't half as successful as Mamma Mia!?

"We are in a slightly different world of celebrity. Also people used to buy tickets further in advance, crucial for musicals which survive on advance sales.

I suppose the music wasn’t like Abba’s music.

Is there anything that could have been done differently?

There are always things I could have done differently. I blame myself for various aspects. It was meant to be a wink at that world of celebrity culture, reality shows, family... maybe it was too early.

With the Spice Girls, they’ve earned their place in our history of pop culture and that landscape in the Nineties. They have become iconic in that sense.

But maybe it should have been in five years’ time. I hope it gets revisited. There have been shows in the past that did not open well and are now revered as the greatest revival.

It didn’t quite get right [sic]. You think, ‘Did we open too close to Christmas?’ or ‘If only Victoria [Beckham] had smiled more [at the premiere].’ It was meant to be the coming together [of the Spice Girls], a jolly experience.”

I felt a big responsibility to them [Spice Girls]. You have to move on. I got back under the Mamma Mia! blanket."

The press focused on Victoria's attitude

Baby Spice Emma Bunton Covers Essentials Magazine

Ex Spice Girl Emma Bunton isn't your typical celebrity.

She has had numerous careers over the years. Having started off as a child model, she went on to appear on British soap opera "Eastenders", only to then take over the World with the Spice Girls in 1996. When the group disbanded in late 2000, Emma threw herself into her solo music career, achieved a solo #1 with "What Took You So Long?", seven top10 hits and two top10 albums: "A Girl Like Me" (2001) and "Free Me" (2004).

With the arrival of her first son, Beau, in 2007, Emma's priorities changed and she abandoned her music career in favour of a more comfortable position as a radio DJ on London-based radio station HeartFM. She welcomed her second son, Tate, in 2011 and announced her engagement to Damage singer Jade Jones, her partner of 15 years. She also started designing her own children's clothing range for Argos in 2011.

Essentials magazine revamped its look for the May issue, which features Emma Bunton on the cover.

With rumours of a Spice Girls reunion as well as a new solo album, Emma seems to be a pretty busy girl! Here's hoping we'll hear her sing again very soon!

Flashback: When The Spice Girls Sang With Pavarotti

Shortly after the release of their second album, "SpiceWorld", the Spice Girls embarked on a World tour that saw them perform almost 100 dates across Europe and North America.

As they reached the peak of their fame, the Girls were contacted by the legendary Pavarotti, who every year used to organise a charity concert called "Pavarotti & Friends": a huge music festival that featured performances by the greatest music acts in the World and gave the chance to the operatic tenor to cross over into popular music as well as help a hugely important cause.

In 1998, his War Child charity aimed to help the orphans of the civil war-ravaged African nation of Liberia.

When Pavarotti approached the Spice Girls, they were a group of five girls touring the World. By the time the concert took place on Tuesday, the 9th of June, 1998, the Spice Girls consisted of just four girls. Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice) had abruptly left the group ten days before.

This didn't stop the Spice Girls, who soldiered on for two years, toured North America, released three more #1 singles and a #2 album without Ginger.

The Pavarotti gig was going ahead, with or without Geri.

Rehearsals took place the very same day as the show, which was being held in Pavarotti's home town of Modena, Italy.

The Spice Girls performed their forthcoming single, "Viva Forever", which went on to spend two weeks at #1 in the UK and also became their biggest hit to date in Italy. It is generally regarded as their best offering ever, and it is the ultimate fan favourite. This special version, a duet with Pavarotti, sounds different from the original, but it's just as beautiful and powerful.

They also performed their previous single, "Stop", and the crowd couldn't have been more excited.

Pavarotti himself only had great things to say about the Girls:

"I chose them because they're good, they're excellent. They sang to me a super song, "Viva Forever", and my interpolation in this song is the best it could ever be". Watch the video here.

The press were all over the Girls and constantly asked about Geri, but they kept it classy and concentrated on the event and the charity. And they were too busy star-spotting to think about Ginger anyway. Emma Bunton (Baby Spice) has often described being on stage with Stevie Wonder as one of the biggest highlights of her life.

The Girls happily posed for photographs with the likes of Celine Dion and The Corrs, who had also been invited to perform at the event.

The concert was aired live on Italian TV, it was watched by more than 8,5 million viewers and received Worldwide coverage. A CD and a DVD were released (click on the image for details):

Melanie C: "We have Victoria's blessing for a Spice Girl reunion"

Rumours of a Spice Girls reunion go from strength to strength, as one member of the group, Sporty Spice Melanie C has revealed during an interview with the Daily Mail that the Girls have considered the idea of reforming without Posh Spice Victoria Beckham, who has several times declared that fashion is her passion and that her popstar days are over.

While Baby Spice Emma Bunton and Scary Spice Mel B denied the rumours of a tour with the Backstreet Boys, Melanie C said:

"We've talked about it. Victoria doesn't want to, which we completely understand. We are so proud of her and her incredible foray into fashion, it's incredible what she's achieved as a designer.

The four of us could consider it maybe. We have Victoria's blessing to do that!"

Online rumours suggested that a reunion announcement would take place this week, but as of now, nothing has happened. Scary Spice Mel B posted this snap on Instagram just a few hours ago:

But where is she going? Nobody knows. The body language has Spice fans guessing. Is she hiding a secret? Or is she just implying that you must keep quiet while one sleeps? Will Spice Girls 2014 happen?

It will all be clear this weekend. Hopefully!

Backstreet Boys NOT Touring With The Spice Girls

A joint World tour? Not gonna happen!
These past few days the World of 90s pop was shaken by rumours of a joint Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls World tour.

Months ago we wrote about a possible collaboration between the two pop supergroups, which was mentioned by the boys themselves during an interview for Spanish TV.

The rumours quickly dissolved and weren't mentioned again. Until yesterday.

Rumour has it that the Spice Girls are planning a reunion as a foursome, and since the sources aren't very reliable, The Sun must have thought: "Oh! Let's make those Backstreet Boys/Spice Girls tour rumours spread now!". And that is exactly what happened. They published the story, and the Internet went into overdrive.

Brian Littrell posted a picture of himself on his Instagram account tonight, with the caption:

"So I think the GIRLS are afraid of the BOYS. That's why they won't take to the stage. #SPICEGIRLS #BSB #BOYSvsGIRLS Just sayin"

While no one actually believes that the Spice Girls would be scared of anything, the fans of both groups can now stop speculating and the press can stop hyping up something that isn't going to happen.

You can also watch this interview with AJ where he mentions the rumours and reveals that there is nothing planned:

Unless this is all a game to drum up publicity before the announcement.
